What Students Will Experience: Meet & Greet with Therapy Dogs – Students will have the opportunity to meet friendly, well-trained therapy dogs and learn about their unique skills. Some lucky participants may even get a chance to pet them!
The Difference Between Therapy Dogs and Service Dogs – Not all working dogs do the same job! We’ll break down what makes a therapy dog different from a service dog, and why both are so important.
The Training Process – Students will get a behind-the-scenes look at how therapy and service dogs are trained. From learning basic commands to advanced skills, these pups go through months of training to master their jobs!
Fun and Surprising Facts About Dogs – Did you know that dogs can detect human emotions? Or that some service dogs can recognize a seizure before it happens? Students will learn amazing canine facts that will make them appreciate just how special these animals are.
Live Demonstrations – Watch therapy dogs showcase their obedience, socialization skills, and even some fun tricks used to bring comfort and joy to those they help.
The Science Behind the Bond – Dogs aren’t just our best friends; they actually help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and provide emotional support in ways science is still uncovering!
Hands-On Learning & Engagement:
Students will have a chance to interact with therapy dogs under close supervision, discovering firsthand why these animals are so calming and wonderful to be around.
A Q&A session will allow students to ask questions and learn more about how they can get involved with therapy dogs, whether by volunteering or even considering a future career in animal-assisted therapy.
